The real dilemma among most black people with money is that of values. really, how many houses does one need; how many cars can one drive; how many vacations to europe and the Carribean in a year are needed; how many closets of clothes can onw wear; how much money must one accumalate to be successful or prove a point; and how much jewlery is necessary to make a statement of wealth.
While reading 1 Kings, I came across the part where Solomon asked God for wisdom, God being pleased with this request also gave Solomon “riches and honor.” Now, with God being all-knowing and what not, why exactly would he give Solomon riches, knowing that these riches would be apart of the reason Solomon would temporarily stray away from the Lord? My best guess is that the riches were apart of Solomon’s acquirement of wisdom, the quote “experience is the best teacher” comes to mind. Some things are best learned through first hand experience, and Solomon learned through his stages of being highly materialistic, chasing women, etc, that none of those things were of any value. He came to see that the only thing that is of any worth is your relationship with God, that is the most valuable possession you could ever have. So, God allowed Solomon to live and learn (grace is beautiful huh?), much like he allows all of his children. So, if you ask God for wisdom, expect to live through the lessons!
Miss this type a music.
If the Holy Spirit was withdrawn from the church today, 95 percent of what we do would go on and no one would know the difference. If the Holy Spirit had been withdrawn from the New Testament church, 95 percent of what they did would stop, and everybody would know the difference
Yes the Word of God has a name and it is not Bible, it is Jesus working through Spirit. The living, one true word. And the Word of God did not stall and it was not finished the day John penned Revelation. It is being penned in our lives today because of the relationship we have with the Living Word.
Thank goodness I’m not alone in this thinking! People constantly say the Bible is the complete Word of God…whatever that may mean. The Bible is an arrow pointing in the direction of God, it helps us in understanding His ways, characteristics, standards, but His voice is not limited to words on paper, He can speak to us in the exact same way He spoke to the authors of the books of the Bible. He is LIVING! That is all.
“I find it’s distressing, there’s never no in-between. We either niggas or Kings, we either bitches or Queens. The deadly ritual seems immersed, in the perverse. Full of short attention spans, short tempers, and short skirts. Long barrel automatics released in short bursts. The length of black life is treated with short worth..”
